Historical Overview

ARARATBANK was established as a result of the reorganization of Haykap Bank, operating in the Armenian financial market since 1991. On September 2005 ARARATBANK was reorganized into a closed joint stock company and in August 2007 into an open joint stock company.

In 2008, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) acquired 25%+1 share stake, thus, becoming a new partner of the Bank. 

In 2012 — under the contract signed between ARARATBANK and Incofin Investment Management — Rural Impulse Fund became a ten-percent (10%) shareholder of the Bank in 2014.     

Flash LLC with 72.73% share, Barsegh Beglaryan with 18.33% share and Rural Impulse Fund with 8.58% share are major shareholders of ARARATBANK.

About Bank

ARARATBANK provides financial services to individuals and legal entities. The branch network of the Bank comprises 60 branches, of which 58 branches are in the Republic of Armenia and 2 branches in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Average number of employees as of 30.06.2017 stood at 869. International banking state-of-the-art best technologies and best practice of the corporate governance are introduced in the Bank.        

ARARATBANK is a member of the Union of Banks of Armenia and is a partner of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia in the field of the internal public debt management. The Bank is a government agent in the field of the public debt management of Armenia in the primary and secondary markets and is a member of NASDAQ OMX Armenia OJSC. The status of a stock exchange member enables the Bank to trade in all instruments available at the Stock Exchange.

Pursuant to the CBA Board Resolution No 1/723A of 17 July 2008 ARARATBANK OJSC was registered in the register of insurance agents and was issued a Registration certificate № 25.

We execute

  • transactions in the securities market

In 2007, ARARATBANK was the first to issue corporate coupon bonds — as a new financial instrument — in Armenia, which were listed in the highest A-bond category of the Armenian Stock Exchange. The Bank is among the most active players in the securities market and it is already ten times it has issued corporate bonds —  2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 — which were listed in the Stock Exchange of the Republic of Armenia. In 2016, the Bank issued corporate bonds 3 times   

ARARATBANK is a primary dealer in government bonds and one of the most active banks in executing transactions in the Armenian financial market, as a result of which ARARATBANK was recognized winner by NASDAQ OMX Armenia in the nomination Best Exchange Member in the Government Bonds Market for the fifth year running. 

ARARATBANK OJSC has had 13 issues of corporate bonds, which were quoted in the Stock Exchange of the Republic of Armenia with five USD bonds and one AMD bond currently in circulation.

  • in the market of plastic cards

ARARATBANK issues plastic cards of both local and international reputable payment and settlement systems. ARARATBANK is a shareholder and fully-fledged member of Armenian Card Company, as well as an affiliated member of MasterCard and fully-fledged member of VISA International payment systems. Becoming an exclusive representative of Diners Club global payment system in Armenia, the Bank has been issuing and processing Diners Club Young Professional and Diners Club Super Premium cards since 2013. The service network of the Bank comprises 60 POS terminals, 1590 merchants and 125 ATMs. Number of cards issued by the Bank totals app. 140.000.     

  • in online market

In 2015, ARARATBANK added Mobile Banking application to its services, due to which the services provided by the Bank are accessible to the customers from any place and at any time. On the web page of the Bank, customers are enabled as well to make use of a number of online services, namely make utility payments, order plastic cards and private safe deposit boxes.   

  • in the market of international money transfers

ARARATBANK is a member of SWIFT international payment system. It executes fast international remittances through Money Gram, Xpress Money, Ria Money Transfers, UNISTREAM, Intel Express, Sigue, Converse Transfer, Moneytun systems.

  • In 2010 German Commerzbank AG awarded trade finance and cooperation certificates to ARARATBANK OJSC and quality certificate in 2011-2012. 
  • In 2011-2013 the Bank was recognized winner by NASDAQ OMX Armenia in the nomination Best Exchange Member in the Government Bonds Market, Best Exchange Member in Credit Resources Market in 2012-2014, and Best Exchange Member for operating actively on all platforms of exchange in 2011-2014.    
  • ARARATBANK OJSC was recognized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as the most active issuing bank in Armenia in the field of international trade finance in 2010-2014. 
  • Raiffeisen Bank International AG awarded ARARATBANK OJSC with quality certificate in 2012-2014.   
  • In 2015, one of the global leading accreditation services CERTIFICATION INTERNATIONAL (UK) LTD issued an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 International Standard Certificate for IS management system to ARARATBANK OJSC.    
  • In 2016, world-renowned magazine Global Finance named ARARATBANK as the best trade finance provider in Armenia, taking into account the volume of transactions carried out by the bank, scope of global coverage, high level of customer service, competitive pricing and state-of-the-art technologies introduced in the bank.    
  • At the Best Exchange Member annual awards ceremony, held by NASDAQ OMX ARMENIA OJSC, based on the performance indicators of 2015, ARARATBANK was recognized winner in the nomination Best Exchange Member in the Government Bonds Market for the fourth year running.
  • Within the framework of the Trade Facilitation Program (TFP) ARARATBANK OJSC was recognized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as the most active issuing bank in Armenia in 2015.
  • Already for the fourth year running, German Commerzbank AG awarded ARARATBANK OJSC with Excellent STP Quality Award for providing excellent, 100% quality of SWIFT transfers.
